Dr.Bhattacharjee is a fully trained and qualified pediatric Surgeon (as per the recommendation of medical council of India) practicing in Ahmedabad since 1976. He did his M.S. (General Surgery) and M.Ch. (Pediatric Surgery), both the master’s degree from Post-graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh. When he completed M.ch degree in 1973, he was the lone pediatric Surgeon of northeastern India which included Assam with its neighboring states, West Bengal, Bihar with Jharkhand. This was documented in the editorial of the Journal of Northeast Chapter of Association of Pediatric Surgeons of India and also the news came up in the local daily. Looking for a specialist attachment in a medical college, he landed in Gujarat through Gujarat Public Service Commission and now he is the senior most in his specialty in Gujarat.

His initial attachment at B.J. Medical College and Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad led to the foundation of an independent Pediatric Surgical department there in 1979, which was the first of its kind in Gujarat, involved in teaching and training this specialty to the young surgeons. He was the founder Pediatric Surgeon and obviously headed the department.

Thereafter, he shifted to N.H.L. Municipal Medical College and V.S. Hospital, Ahmedabad and also side by side, started his own nine – bedded private hospital at Ellis Bridge, Ahmedabad. The department of V.S. Hospital greatly owe to him for the latest facilities and highest level of patient care rendered to the tiny patients at a very affordable cost. Incidentally the department is recognized by medical council of India for teaching and training students already having M.S. in General Surgery for the degree of M.Ch. (Pediatric Surgery) under Gujarat University. The students for their M.Ch. course are selected on all India merit basis. Dr.Bhattacharjee had been the Professor and Head of Department for last several years over there.
